METHODOLOGY

The methodology Uerê-Mello is especially designed for children with learning difficulties, traumas and problems caused by living under various types of constant violence. Inside our classrooms and grounds, each child or youth receives personalized attention that starts with a diagnosis of the family, infancy and of problems facing the child each case.

All teachers at UERÊ are trained to make this diagnosis. This methodology is our differentiating factor and explains our success in reaching our mission and goals of increasing schooling and solving the problems of each child:

diagnosis (of the learning difficulties)

areas of dichotomy and rupture (moment of trauma)

definition of pedagogical strategy

family participation and involvement

constant monitoring

mathematics as a predominant factor to increase memory and logic thinking

Extra-curricular activities form an integral part of the methodology:

All classes with extra-curricular actitivies embedded in the methodology have the purpose of eliminating psycho-motoric and cognitive problems and to increase concentration.

Sports:       soccer and capoeira / maculele

Music:        modern dance, learning instruments and percussion

Arts:           drawing, painting, graffiti and handcrafts

Library:      contact with written words and incentive to read

The children receive individual attention for they suffer from many different problems like dyslexia, attention deficit, speech impediments, aggression, lack of discipline, lack of self esteem, depression and various cognitive problems.
